I noticed there was a trend for escapism recently where people searched for fun and engaging activities to quench their boredom.

Initial Thesis:

I started with a retro roller skater focus for my sport apparel but quickly realized I needed to broaden my target market.

As someone who also enjoys learning new activities to get out and exercise, I created an umbrella term for all physical activities that divert from "traditional sports":

Creative Sports

This includes, but is not limited to, dancers, aerial artists, retro roller skaters and more.

My new target market could have multiple creative sport hobbies:
dance, roller skating, aerial silks, hoops, pole and more

She looks for nostalgic influences in fashion and clothing that helps her feel confident while moving and connected to others.

Macro trend: Reviving the old and nostalgic way of doing things (Popcorn, Down-Aging, n.d.).

I created a 70's inspired mood board and sketched multiple designs for each type of garment I needed in my collection. Then chose which ones worked best with the theme, wearer's movement, and other garments.

Colour and patterns were key for my collection, so I went through a special process to find the perfect balance between bold colours and compatibility.

The process involved printed out flats, markers, and a lot of colouring.
